Copthill is a Nursery and Independent Day School for boys and girls aged 2-11 years.  The school was born in 1969 when our founder, Mrs. Anne Teesdale, an experienced educationalist, was unable to find the right school for her own children, and decided to educate them at home on Copthill Farm.  Others joined as the school’s reputation grew and today we have 300 pupils, 60 members of staff, a wealth of modern facilities but the same values on which the school was founded.  I was the very first pupil at Copthill and I am now proud to be the headmaster.

We are located in the village of Uffington, 2 miles from Stamford in Lincolnshire, within easy reach of the towns of Market Deeping, Bourne, Oundle and Oakham and the city of Peterborough.  The school itself is purpose-built with modern facilities and set in ten acres of beautiful Lincolnshire countryside, adjacent to the farm where the school first started.

We are proud of the excellent reputation we have gained over the years which is built on:

  • Our warm and welcoming family atmosphere, our mix of modern and innovative educational methods and old-fashioned values.

  • Our broad curriculum and a huge range of sports, music and other activities that take place daily. These opportunities help to produce the confident, talented and well-rounded children who leave us at the end of Year 6.

  • Our truly independent status. Instead of feeding automatically into any one school, we will work closely with you, the parents, and help you choose the right school for your child. We will then prepare him or her thoroughly for the entrance exam. We send children to all the Independent and Grammar schools in the area and further afield.

This website aims to give you a broad outline of what we can offer at Copthill.  For more information, please ask for a copy of our prospectus.  Better still, why not come and see us?  We assure you of a very warm welcome.
