Busy little bees!

Year 3 has been a hive of since returning to school for the Summer Term. Our new topic ‘The Bees Knees’ has really got us all thinking about the importance of bees. We have been sharing ideas and facts that we already know about bees and finding out much more! Our own school hives are thriving and the bees are busy growning their brood and making lots of honey – some will be extracted this week for us to enjoy.

Here are some fabulous pictures of our very detailed drawings of bees. Not only can we draw them, but we name each body part too!

We have been learning the different parts of a flower in Forest School this week. We made some beautiful floral clay plaques and tasted Nasturtiums. We found out that the flower and seeds are all edible. The flowers and young leaves have a peppery taste. We have two new additions to our livestock – meet Cedric and Colin! Our resident tortoises. Mr Campbell shared lots of great facts about them with us.

We have some new play equipment kindly sourced by Mr Teesdale. His old car, our boat and a straw house. Year 3 were very keen to explore them. You can imagine the great adventures we will be going on during our lunch breaks this term! Oh and Cedric and Colin also had a great time!
