Danger! Beware!

A busy week in Year 2 this week, it kicked off with ‘Celebration of languages’ day on Monday with 2U learning about Ukraine and 2G learning about Holland. The children really enjoyed learning about the different culture in these countries, hearing about the food and learning some Dutch and Ukrainian. It was really nice for Masha to be able to teach her peers how to say ‘hello’ and ‘how are you?’. She thoroughly enjoyed being our teacher 🙂 2G enjoyed putting their craft skills to good use and made some beautiful paper tulips.

Danger! Beware!, Copthill School

We have continued to learn about place value in maths this week and have enjoyed getting back into the swing of Read Write Inc. We have had some fabulous pirate ships being brought into school as part of the children’s independent learner homework and look forward to seeing more over the next coming weeks. In art we have continued the theme of pirates and the children designed and made their own pirate flags. They gained an understanding of the different symbols and colours that pirates used on their flags e.g. a red pirate flag meant ‘incoming danger’ and if there was a sand timer on the flag it was a symbol of ‘time running out’.

A date for the diary – Tuesday 11th October is going to be our Pirate Day in Year 2. More information will be sent out nearer the time but if the children can come into school dressed as a pirate that would be fantastic.

Also, a request from Mrs Bingham, if you have any yogurt pots or soup/baked bean tins that can come into school before Wednesday, that would also be really appreciated.
