Fireworks

This week we are discussing that there will be fireworks at the weekend to celebrate bonfire night. The children have watched short clips on the computer about fireworks which have taken place in London. We have discussed fire safety and how it is important to listen to our grown ups during firework displays and not to touch a firework or sparkler if it is on the floor. The children have enjoyed describing the noises of the fireworks, as well as pointing out the different colours and shapes. There have been a variety of activities on offer and many have enjoyed making a firework with the coloured straws and stars- concentrating carefully to attach each straw to the centre piece. Out in the quad, the children had fun creating colourful fireworks using chalk on the floor as well as mark making in the colourful sand. The salad spinner firework craft has been very popular and the children have had to use their their strong muscles to spin the paint around inside the spinner to create a beautiful firework picture.
