ISA Regional Cross Country

Friday 10th February was the last day of term, but it was down to business for the Copthill U11 Cross Country Team as we arrived at Finborough School, Stowmarket on a sunny winter’s day for ISA Regional Championships. The 2.3km course was drier than last year, but the long hill through the golf course was no less steep than we remembered it!

The Girls went first, predominantly from Year 6, with Erin representing Year 5. They all ran brilliantly well, securing personal bests, and in certain cases I think surprising themselves with their final placings. Congratulations to Sophie who qualified for the National Finals with a strong 4th place, and to Erin a fantastic 13th, Annabel 15th and Brooke 16th. All the Girls contributed to a spirited team effort in which the whole team finished in the top half of the field, and they can be very proud of their 3rd Place Team Result. Very Well Done!!

The Boys also found themselves on a crowded start line, and despite the false start they all got away safely, accelerating around the playing field towards the golf course. A mix of Year 6 and Year 5, the Boys also put in a big shift on the punishing hill back towards the finish, Boogie showing all his grit and courage as he narrowly missed a top ten spot, a place in which would have been a racing certainty had he not been unwell earlier in the week. Luke sped in 21st place, closely followed by Monty in 27th, with Yusuf 54th and Sam 59th. All the Boys can be very proud of their individual achievements on the day, and as as a team their collective efforts are rewarded and recognised by a fantastic 4th Place Team Result. Very Well Done!!
