Here’s a bit more information so you get to know us better.

Copthill is a genuine family school with a Board of Directors.  We all get along and this give the school great strength and consistency.  Staff have a degree of autonomy and considerable flexibility with regard to their teaching.  Pupils join us at two and leave us at 11 years old.  We are an independent co-educational day school with 300 pupils. The maximum class size is 20, with plenty of assistance.  There are healthy waiting lists for many of our year groups.

Academically our standards are very high and we continue to be listed amongst the top 50 prep schools according to The Sunday Times.  Pupils are prepared for both state and independent secondary schools.  We achieve an average of 13 scholarship places a year, which is impressive for a non-selective primary school. Click here for the ISI Inspection Highlights 2017.

We have never rested on our good reputation and we are constantly developing new approaches to teaching and learning, with particular emphasis on curriculum and extracurricular opportunities.  We have a low turnover of staff, with most teachers having been here for an average of 12 years.

School leavers – Years 12/13

If you are interested in paid work experience, we would be happy for you to get in touch. Experience of nannying, looking after or working with young children (2-5 year olds) would help you to assist the teachers who supervise our Pre school pupils during the holidays.  We run activities throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, half terms and the Summer holidays. You would be helping in art and play activities, country walks and visits to the animal farm.  Our older pupils, (6-11 year olds) attend our Forest School, so if you feel that you could encourage and support this age group better, let us know.

Gap year students

Each year we have vacancies for undergrad and post grad students to support our teaching staff.  If you would like to be considered, please email your CV at the beginning of the Summer term for a position in the following academic year.

As part of our safeguarding procedures, a current DBS certificate and references will be required.
