Out on a safari!

The Year 2 children have been learning all about animals as part of their class topic ‘where the wild things are’. We continued their learning in music, in particular we focussed on African animals. We listened to different animal noises then had a go at mimicking them on instruments. A popular instrument with the children was the djembe, the African drum, which the children learned how to play. They learned the bass stroke and the tone stroke. To round up the topic at the end of the half term, we went on our very own safari! The children took it in turns to make animal sounds, play the djembe and explore the safari! They had a great time 🙂
