Our week has been filled with smiles, laughter and fun. We continue our ‘Under the Sea’ theme with the story ‘Sharing a Shell’ by Julia Donaldson, a delightful story about being kind, sharing and helping one another. We have acted out the story with our headbands proudly representing characters from the story. We have made story maps and ordered the storyline through talking and pictures.
Our Read, Write, Inc adventures have continued as we revisited the letters n, p and g! The ‘n’ activities included making pasta necklaces which are worthy of any Stamford boutique! We also made plenty of other necklaces with numbers, beads and cotton reels using our experience of repeating patterns.
Our letter ‘p’ day was great fun. We decorated pink pigs, printed large ‘p’ templates with pink and purple potato prints. We also made some ‘p’s’ out of playdough, Hama beads and we retold the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’.
Our ‘g’ activities included making some rather decorative Groovy Glasses (this season’s must-haves), decorating glittery ‘g’s’, drawing g’s in green glitter and forming the letter correctly on our handwriting sheet.
Maths this week has been outside as we dodged the raindrops. We have been using the autumn leaves to match and identify trees. We have used mathematical vocabulary to describe the variety of shapes, sizes and colours of leaves and then sort them by different criteria. We also did an autumn scavenger hunt.
Cosmic Yoga had an under sea theme this week and the children coped very well with the flexible poses – it was a totally different matter for the adults however! (No teachers were injured too badly fortunately!)
PE has been all about learning new games. The children learnt how to play ‘Stuck in the Mud’ as well as some animal games. It was lovely to see some of the children continue these games at playtime this week
