Stitches and Sticking

Lots of exciting learning has been happening yet again in Year 3 this week. We have been continuing on our quest of healthy eating – the children created some wonderful platefuls of deliciously healthy meals using their knowledge of the differing food types we need.

The needleworkers have been busy with their needle and threads to make our fantastic felt fruit and vegetables. It is taking time and patience but boy they are rather lovely and we are all so very proud of our efforts!

Here are the final photos of the steaming cup of hot chocolates that were made last week. The ‘steam’ is wool from our very own sheep!

This week it was about collaging. First the children drew a wonderful waterfall scenery, then selected colours and textures to match the areas to carefully cover. The results were most effective.

Mr Teesdale, Harley and & Koda just popped into to Mrs Teesdale’s classroom to see the children hard at work. The children had Mr Teedale in stitches as they were busy getting into rather a sticky mess. There was quite a lot of tidying up to be be done!

In maths we are continuing using our doubling and multiplying skills and some children have moved onto spending money. There will be a shop opening in 3D for a little practical shopping – let’s hope nobody is short-changed!

The children have also been thinking about products that they would like to advertise. These included delciously brilliant burgers, sensational smoothing shampoos and too many toys to mention. The children were thinking about slogans, catchy phrases and of course the all important offers. Watch this space – you may be wanted to make a purchase or two!

Playtime this week has been extra special – check out the attire!

If you go down in the woods today… the children have been on their animal mission yet again with Mrs Bell identifying and classifying animals into differing groups. Year 3 are great at sorting tasks!
