Our last week of our dinosaur topic has been filled with poetry, palaeontology, fossils and fact files. It has been a really fun topic and the children in Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed delving into dinosaurs. In English we have been looking at rhyming couplets and acrostic poems, in Forest school we enjoyed making dinosaur weaving wooden blocks using wood, nails and wool. In creative curriculum we were learning how we have ‘found out’ about dinosaurs over the years, looking in particular at palaeontologists and fossils. They really enjoyed learning about Mary Anning and did a great job at matching fossils and skeletons to certain dinosaurs.
In maths we have been learning about measurement and practising using rulers to measure the length of objects and in PSHE we were working on our collaboration skills. We had to design a tower as a team then build it out of Lego – concentrating and focusing on team work.
On Friday we had a great time for Children in Need. All of the children came in to school wearing one colour, Pudsey ears and patterns, we enjoyed taking part in a range of activities – in particular the Year 2 ramble.
