Today the children enjoyed the story Owl Babies by torchlight. We talked about the words night and nocturnal and linked them to our Read Write Inc sound /n/. The children had to try and guess the nocturnal animal Mrs Fleming was describing by listening carefully to the clues. Each child was then given a torch and they were able to explore the darkened classroom and use the torch to create colours and shadows on the walls and floor. The children were able to select from a number of resources to help them cast their shadows. The children thought this was lots of fun and did not want to stop so we have agreed to have another go later in the week!
