U11 B Boys Hockey team rolled into Oundle to play a festival of games against Laxton, Stamford and Kimbolton.
The opening fixture against our hosts saw both teams settling into their game plans. Gradually Copthill took control in the midfield and with possession secured our wide players pushers forward. Chances were created and ultimately three goals were scored for Copthill as a result. A great start to our afternoon.
The second game against Stamford was a more cagey affair. Both sides evenly matched, trading possession and chances. Perhaps the best chance fell to Copthill, but frustratingly we could not convert it. Such is sport, and we accepted an exciting draw.
The final game against Kimbolton was expected to be tough, and it didn’t disappoint. Their skills and movement caused us early challenges, but we weathered the storm and on a counter attack Yusuf (following a recent coaching point to the letter!) took an early shot which surprised the goalie …and we were up! The boys worked hard in the final quarter, using all their skills and energy to close out the game and the win, recording a very satisfactory unbeaten run through the afternoon. Very well done to them all and many thanks to our vociferous support!
