U11 Girls stumped Brooke with their Cricket skills

What an exciting and momentous occasion when we were finally able to undertake a fixture again on Wednesday! I am not sure who was more excited, the girls or myself. Just reading out the names as they got on the bus and checking we had kit and teas felt like the most wonderful jobs.

The girls behaved immaculately and it was wonderful to feel that pride again as they represented Copthill at another school.

On the pitch the girls got straight to business using all of their newly learnt skills. Mrs Hesford’s team made triple figures and took a 142-103 win. Instrumental in that win was Hattie for her skills across the board, Isabel’s magnificent catch and some super bowling from Izzy. Brooke voted Siena as their player of the match for her progress in her bowling across her over.

On my pitch I was super proud as well. The girls were nervous at the start, but quickly got into their stride fielding first. Mattie was an extremely consistent bowler and a number of girls took wickets. At the end of our bowling over Brooke were on 50 and we had 4 wickets in hand. As we moved to batting we now had a target. Ava’s batting really stood out with two 4’s and a 6 and Anabel’s communication saw her pair maximise their running potential. At the end of the game we finished on 78 with 20 points for our 4 wickets. Brooke took 2 wickets so finished on a total of 60. A great first win 98-60.

It was a wonderful start to bringing fixtures back into Copthill life and we were very lucky with the weather. A quick Copthill packed tea made a lovely conclusion to the perfect afternoon of Cricket. Mrs Alcoran.
