We were blessed with a sunny Thursday afternoon for the U9 girls to have their first Copthill fixture. There was a mixture of excitement, nerves and anticipation for their chocolate cookie! The girls have only had two lessons of Hockey this year so the improvement from the first to the last minute across the two games was really noticeable.
The girls played against Laxton and Brooke Priory across two teams. The Astro is a wonderful size to host two U9 matches and allows the space to not feel too overwhelming. The girls really got stuck in and had the chance to mix around positions to see what they enjoyed and where they made a difference. We had some wonderful defence from Milla and Cecil, amazing goals from Florence and all round wonderful sporting attitude and enjoyment across all of the girls.
At this age it is all about enjoyment and learning how to translate the skills from the lesson time into the fixtures against other schools.
Thank you to the large amount of parents who attended. There was encouragement across the board with many happy faces ready to greet and support the girls which was lovely to see.
