What a wonderful world

To celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee the children of Copthill put on an art exhibition in the school grounds. What an amazing afternoon we had! There was artwork on display from every single member of the school from nursery through to Year 6. Alongside individual pieces of work, each of the school houses got together to create their own house installation. Again, each child in each house – Casewick, Burghley, Milton and Lindsey – were involved in creating each installation. The exhibition was a fundraising event which meant that each piece of artwork was for sale, with the funds going to the Woodland Trust Charity. This year the Woodland Trust are involved in creating The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), which is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Instead of planting individual tree’s, the school decided to raise money and donate tree’s to the QGC.

To link with this nature theme, the overall theme of the exhibition was ‘What a Wonderful World’ and within that, there were subthemes – weather/rainbows, animals, nature and the environment and kindness. You will be able to spot which artwork and installation was linked to which subtheme.

It was such a great turn out, parents and visitors were so positive and were full of wonderful praise. Thank you to all of the teachers and children and for all of their hard work. We could not have been happier with how the first Copthill Art Exhibition went, bring on next years!
