X marks the spot!

Year 2 have had a fabulous four days. Mrs York-Forward’s Birthday was on Thursday and as you all know, any excuse for a party!

This week we have been looking at direction in Maths. Using our mathematical terminology we had to direct our partner across the playground without them crashing into anything.

In games, the children were taught a few rugby skills which Mrs Underwood really enjoyed as she is a big rugby fan!

We had a Forest School session clear of rain which is amazing and we were able to enjoy the depths of the woods to make our own maps using natural materials. We made our maps for the visitors that are looking round school to show them our school grounds. They also had to make a key to go with the map so the visitors knew where they were going.

Homework- This half term our topic is Neighborhood Watch. The children have been looking at the local area and have been practicing their persuasive writing. The challenge this half term is to produce a leaflet advertising a tourist attraction from the local area. Please send the leaflets into school by the 24th May.

We are sending pencil cases home this weekend for you to check them and top them up if needed.

  • HB Pencil x2
  • Eraser
  • Set of coloured pencils
  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Set of Felt Pens
  • Glue Stick
  • 30cm Ruler

It was also made very clear on Wednesday when we came to get togged up for Forest School that there are still a number of children without a coat or waterproofs in school. If the weather happens to be like the forecast tomorrow on a Forest School day your child will not be allowed to come to forest school. Please make sure you have checked that they have waterproof trousers and a coat with them and if you are unsure please send some in their bag in case. It’s better to have more than nothing at all! The weather will hopefully pick up rather soon but until then we need to be prepared!

Have the best weekend. We look forward to seeing you Monday!
