Some of the boys took part in the final hockey match of the term on Wednesday 15th March.
Copthill played host to Witham Hall and 2 matches were played back-to-back. The B team played first and played some fantastic hockey! They sprayed the ball around brilliantly and took the lead in the first half. Witham drew level just before half time, but Copthill came out strongly after the break and regained their lead. The final score was 2-1 to Copthill.
I was very impressed by the boys level of skill and team play in particular, which bodes well for next season.
The A team then took to the pitch and started well against a strong Witham Hall team. The defence was holding strong until the final minute of the first half when Copthill conceded a short corner which Witham scored from. The downfall for Copthill was giving away short corners as they just couldn’t clear the ball from Witham’s well-drilled tactics.
The final score was 4-1 to Witham, which was disappointing as the boys quality dropped off in the second half.
Well done to all the boys who have participated in the hockey matches this term.
