As part of year 1’s learning journey, finding out all about Sir Ranulph Fiennes and his amazing adventures, we found ourselves in Egypt this afternoon. We learnt about the longest river in the world, all 6000km in total and how Sir Ranulph Fiennes was the first person to travel along the River Nile in a hovercraft. This inspired our artwork and we set about drawing the outline of a hovercraft before we added detail. We then used a marker pen to outline the painting areas and then set about adding different textures using paint for the water and the sky with sponges and forks, before carefully adding colour to the hovercraft itself.
