A Pirate’s Life for Me!

We have had another very busy week in year 2, sequencing pirate stories, thinking about what we might see from a pirate ship and then creating porthole pictures. In maths we have been recognising the value of different numbers and have been counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. In RE both classes spent time learning about the Quran. Music saw the introduction of recorders which we hope you are enjoying! The children thoroughly enjoyed swimming this week and can’t wait for next week’s lesson already!

Our Independent Explorer homework for this half term is to design a pirate ship and bring a model of it into school to show us. Do feel free to use your imagination, we have had lego models, a pumpkin pirate ship, cakes and a recycling based ship in previous years. The emphasis is on your child creating the model and should be completed by October half term.

The weekly spellings can be found on Readiwriter and will be tested every Monday.

One of our targets for year 2 is to work on our fine motor skills, in particular using a knife and fork properly. We would be very grateful if you could reinforce this at home.
