And just like that we’re back and well into the swing of things here at Copthill. We are all so impressed at how quickly the children have settled into their new classrooms and the Year 2 routine! Say hi 2D and 2G!
On our first day we spent time talking about our holidays and played some listening games where the children had to sit in partners and listen to each others holiday news. Then they had to talk at the same time and see whether it was possible to hear what each other was saying and if they were able to take in any info. This was super tricky! It was a really good way of showing how important it is and respectful it is to listen to each other when talking. We also kicked off the new year with a birthday, so lots of celebrating!!
We dived straight into our topic of Pirates with some pirate portraits in art, the children were excited to turn themselves into scurvy pirates – keep your eyes peeled around the Y2 classrooms and corridors for the motley crew!
With the weather being so beautiful this week, we made the most of being outside which is clear on the children’s faces who have enjoyed catching up with friends after the long summer break, look at those big smiles! 2D had forest school and were learning about safe foraging, gaining an understanding of what is ok and not ok to pick and enjoyed some blackberries along the way.
