Amazing Autumn!

We have had a very busy and fun filled week in Reception. We started the week in the forest with Goldilocks and the Three Bears! We have been learning about comparative mathematical language. We listened to the story and sang the “Three Bears” song. In the forest we acted out the story and had a picnic in the classroom talking about large, medium and small items in the story. We even made some masks to act out the story for our parents at home.

In our topic work we learnt about different professions. We talked about where our parents worked and other jobs in the community. We played some acting games and used hats to act out different jobs. RD and RH were really good at guessing the professions. We made some chef hats and prepared our own pizzas which we enjoyed for snack. Reception children are now fully prepared to open their own Italian resaurant !

In literacy we have read many exciting stories. All our children love books! In Read, Write, Inc we have learnt the letters o, c and k. We have thought of objects that start with these letters, painted by orange rolling, carrot printing and made our own kites!

In Forest School we learnt about fire safety and used peelers to peel our willow sticks ready for cooking apples over the open fire next week.

Music was a great time to learn our Harvest song for our school presentation next week. We have had Open Day this week when we learnt all about autumn change. We made clay and leaf hedgehogs and drew some beautiful autumn objects. Well done Reception!
