Ball’s and Beetles

Here we are again with 3 weeks to go until we break up for our Christmas Holidays!

In RE we have been looking at the Christmas story. The children were able to write a storyboard to show us what happened in the story. They had to make sure the pictures matched up to what they had written.

Year 2 have also been looking at Christmas around the world. This week we looked at the traditions they have for Christmas in Spain. This included them eating seafood and having lovely colourful lights.

In Forest School we made scarab beetles with clay and looked for other bugs in the Forest. The scarab beetle was one of the most popular amulets in ancient Egypt because the insect was a symbol of the sun god Re.

In PE there was some excellent catching and throwing! We did some throwing at a target, and a mini obstacle course of different activities with balls. This lockdown is a great time to practice ball skills in the garden!

Red words will be found in some children’s reading folders. All of the children have had some practice with their red words this week and the ones that they found tricky have been put into their reading folders for them to keep practicing at home. These will be changed every week; the words will help them with their vocabulary when writing and reading.

Thank you for your support. Have a lovely weekend.
