Bees

At Forest School we are busy learning about bees. This week we have been exploring how the bees travel around looking for flowers and how the bees drink the nectar from the flowers with their long proboscis tongue before taking it back to hive where the bees fill up the hexagon shaped cells. The children used pipettes as a tongue, squeezing the top and sucking up the yellow liquid, which they then took to the specially shaped ice cube trays. Mr Campbell showed everyone the bee waggle dance which is how the bees tell all the others which direction the flowers are.
