Behind the masks!

Year 3 had a great time creating their Greek mythological creature. Working in pairs, they took it in turns to secretly drew each part of the creature. Unfolding their creation caused great surprise and hilarity! They were very pleased with their results:

Further research on Greek Gods and Goddesses was undertaken this week – the children used their ever-growing research skills on their Chromebooks to match the correct one to the descriptions and magic powers:

It was 3D’s turn to learn about the geographical placement of Ancient Greek states. They carefully cut out each state and determined where to put them to reproduce the Ancient Greek map:

Our art lesson this week involved reproducing Greek masks using differing mediums – clay, paper and cardboard. We looked at differing features for the mask paying particular attention to eye and mouth shapes to show whether it would be used to portray tragedy or comedy:

Year 3 made some wonderful laurel wreath crowns during their Forest School afternoons this week – they used willow branches to weave them:

Maths this week has continued with deepening our understanding of place value – posters were created to show different representations of 3 digit numbers through partitioning. We played a fantastic game to demonstrate our learning of rounding numbers to the nearest 10:
