Call the ambulance!

Copthill had a visit from Katie the Paramedic on Thursday! Katie gave us a tour of her ambulance, the children used a stethoscope and Miss Welch and Mrs Alcoran were checked using the pulse oximeter (the finger monitor for heart rate!). I am delighted to report that both hearts are still beating…phew! The children were excited to try on some paramedic kit, and were even allowed to have a go at beeping the ambulance horn! Mrs Alcoran used her turn to give us a lovely demonstration of the three different types of sirens. It was a fantastic experience for the children, and staff, and I think we can all say that we came away knowing a lot more about how the inside of an ambulance works!

This week in Games, Year 4 have been fine-tuning their hockey and rugby skills in preparation of our next festival, which will take place in Stamford next Thursday. Now they’ve got the first one under their belts, there’s a lot of excitement throughout Year 4 for next week’s matches.

Bread baking was this week’s Forest School activity. After gathering supplies to make their fire and setting out the ingredients, they got baking! The hard work paid off as everybody’s bread tasted absolutely delicious!

In class, the children finished their ‘balanced arguments’ in English, earlier this week, and have now moved on to creating a poster on ‘Democracy’ on their Chromebooks. I think we have a few aspiring politicians on our hands!

In maths, the children were playing a maths-style Connect4. In pairs, they were asked to multiply or divide from a grid of numbers and get 4-in-a-row to win. It was great to see their competitive spirits! Let’s hope we carry that passion forward to the hockey and rugby Festival next week!
