On Wednesday we welcomed Witham and Brooke to play in a Triangular. On the first pitch we had one of our teams playing full contact matches, the first of those being Copthill Vs Witham. The boys looked very comfortable in this situation considering it was only their first contact fixture! After some solid tackling and very good ball running we were giving Witham the run around. A performance that saw us over the line on multiple occasions, leading to the overall win. A very big well done to the boys that played in this game.
On the other pitch we were playing more of a coaching game with a few more stoppages to allow that extra bit of input from the coaches. Our first game was against Brooke, both sides started off very compact and a bit slow, but after a few points made from both Brooke’s coach and myself the boys (both sides) then really started to show their skill. Playing much wider and using a large proportion of the pitch was great to see. There was some fantastic support running going on through these games too which was brilliant to see! Some real improvement from the boys! In the second game we played Witham, again it was another learning curve in our defence. A few tips given and Copthill were defending well again. A few tired legs during this game as we had played back to back games with no subs, but the boys were still making good runs through the gaps. Some very good points to take from these games and hopefully it was an enjoyable experience for all involved! These two games had no winners or losers as the main aim was FUN and to allow the children to get coaching from different coaches during the game.
A big well done to all children involved, especially with the way you represented Copthill!
