It was a perfect afternoon for hockey as the U11As took to the Copthill Astro for the first home game of the season.
Ratcliffe came out very strong and we had to defend for much of the first 10minutes. We only conceded one goal but knew our desire for the ball had to increase.
Some positional changes for us and a new team from Ratcliffe as they brought 14 girls, saw a very different second quarter. Tissy work extremely hard up front and scored three epic goals. Ratcliffe responded with a second and the score was 3-2 at half time.
That was how it would stay until full time. Two additional quarters with two different line ups for Ratcliffe saw many wonderful attacks countered by some superb defending from Maisie, Esme and Florence. Izzie made some great saves and made sure Ratcliffe didn’t cross our line again. Erin distributed well and Amelia and Eva worked hard to give Copthill some attacking chances.
It was a superb match to watch and I am super proud of the progress the girls are making.
