Halloween and Bonfire night excitement

It has been a delight to welcome the children back after the half term holiday and we were very impressed with how quickly they have settled back into their daily routines. We have enjoyed sharing Adventure Logs with the children and hearing all about their exciting adventures over the break. We have also opened ‘The Lending Library’ to all children in Nursery and Pre School.

We have also been busy learning all about Bonfire Night in class and have participated in exciting activities such as splatter painting, tracing firework pattern sheets in glitter and chalking fireworks outside.

In Pre School, the children have been discovering 2D shapes in mathematics this week. We have had lots of fun playing ‘Guess the Shape’ games and exploring shape patterns throughout the continuous provision. As part of our phonics teaching, both the children in Pre School and Nursery have been exploring body percussion and learning how we can make different sounds with our bodies.

Pre School children have also been introduced to new specialist lessons and the children attended their first PE session on Tuesday and their first French session on Thursday afternoon. We were very impressed with how well the children listened and engaged in the new learning.

In Forest School this week, we have been following the interest of many of the children and have been thinking about Halloween. This has generated much excitement and we used the story of ‘Room on the Broom’ to spark exciting activities such as making wands and nature potions.
