In Read Write Inc today we looked at the /i/ sound. To help the children reinforce the sound we sang the rhyme Incy Wincy Spider. The children were then invited to collect the incy wincy spiders from the play tray web using chunky tweezers, helping to develop their hand muscles. The children had to work as a team to collect all of the spiders and move them to the carpet. Once all of the spiders had been collected the children sorted them into groups based on their different colours. We took care to count the groups and then all of the spiders. The children then had to use the tweezers to move the spiders back to the web. Everyone thought this was lots of fun!
