Pirate take over!

Our topic of pirates has been taking over our timetable this week, we have been learning about them in English, in art, in our creative curriculum lessons and even in Forest School. 2G made a great big compass on the floor of the woods using natural materials and 2U used berries to make their own tie dye pirate bandanas.

As for our English lessons we have continued to look at the story of the night pirates and in creative curriculum lessons we have been looking at maps and focusing our learning on Madagascar – which became a hot spot for pirates. In art, we finished our portholes which have gone up on display in the Year 2 corridor and had fun designing our very own pirate flag. Making sure we had an understanding of what the symbols meant and what different colours could mean. Next week we will be making them and putting our textile skills to the test.

We have spoken to the children today about the school council and each class will need a representative. If your child would like to put themselves forward, please can they make an application as to why they would be a good choice for school council over the weekend and bring it in with them.
