Rainbow Fish and Other Adventures!

Another fantastic week in Reception has passed. We have been learning all about the story of “The Rainbow Fish” by Martin Pfister. This endearing story is about a little sparkly fish who learns a valuable lesson about sharing. We have been using our fingerprints to make decorative fish with shiny scales and acting out the events of the story with our fishy masks outside.

In Read, Write, Inc we have been revising our letter sounds m,a,s,d,t,i,n,p,g and word building simple words to spell, write and read.

In mathematics we have been sorting. We have use a story called “The Button Box” as our maths stimulus this week. We have been sorting an abundance of different colours and styles of buttons by different criteria.

Our intrepid explorers battled the wind and the rain during Forest School to collect apples from the orchard. We are all looking forward to making apple cake and crumble!

There was great excitement on Thursday as it was our election day for the School Council. We went to vote and made our choice from the candidates. We were able to go to the polling station to place our votes in the ballot box. It was so exciting!
