Recently all of the Nursery and Pre School children participated in an experiment to see how a runner bean would grow. Each child placed a bean into a clear bag and used the water sprayer to give it a drink. An adult used sticky tape to stick it to the window. Over the past few weeks, the children have watched the beans grow some roots and a shoot/stem with some leaves. The children helped to plant the runner bean seedlings out in the early years garden, where we are hoping to build our own tepee with all the runner bean plants. It is growing very nicely already and we have been helping to water so that the plants grow in our garden.
