Saving our Polar Animals!

Our Reception explorers have travelled to the South Pole this week to investigate animals there. We have learnt a great many facts about penguins, where they live and what they eat. We have looked at how animals protect themselves from predators and all about camouflage.

We have been reading the story about two little penguin friends who get trapped on a floating iceberg and how all their Antarctic friends rally around to save them. What magnificent team work!

In Forest School the children are travelling to the South Pole to save some animals from melting ice caps. They are investigating what causes ice to melt. A little experiment has been performed to see whether ice melts more quickly by adding warm water, salt or by using pick axes! The children then sorted the Polar animals into groups as to whether they live in the North or South Pole. Well done icy explorers!
