Stop, drop and roll!

We have been learning some very valuable information all about fire safety during our forest school sessions. This information was particularly handy ahead of our fabulous firework display at school this weekend. It was demonstrated that fires can be extinguished using a number of methods – using a fire blanket, using sand, using water, using foam and using powder. We now know that if ever our clothing caught fire we should use the ‘stop, drop and roll’ method to extinguish it. Using a fire extinguisher on a tree as a target the children proved that they had a very good aim! Mr Campbell showed us how to light a fire using a flint. We also had a lesson in knot-tying which was helpful for learning our left from our right!

Our work on adjectives went off the scale this week! The children have been learning the skill of using a thesaurus and reaping the benefits of this incredible resource. They used their skill to improve their adjectives when describing parts of a dinosaur and have made the most amazing dinosaur fact files from the Jurassic Period which were then placed on a timeline. Wonderful work indeed!

Following the dinosaur theme Year 2 made the most amazing dinosaur eye artwork this week. Look at the incredible detail created using oil pastels. Truly fabisaurus!
