This week in Nursery and Pre School we have been thinking about different emotions. Whilst sharing the story ‘The Colour Monster’, the children engaged in reflective discussions about the feelings portrayed in the book. We thought about different strategies we could use when we feel angry or sad, such as mindful moments and counting to 10. We also learned that it is ok to feel different types of feelings and that we do not always feel happy. T
We have also introduced a new daily routine in the form of self-registration. Each morning children are now learning to find their name alongside their picture in Nursery, whilst in Pre School the children are learning to identify their name.
Our next school rule bear has also been introduced to the children this week. The children were very excited to meet Reflective Bear and learn how it is important to think carefully about the choices we make at school.
Amongst these classroom focuses; the children have been continuing to explore our rich forest school provision and have spent time exploring signs of autumn. The children have had lots of fun engaging in autumn scavenger hunts whilst the staff reinforce boundary areas in forest school sessions.
We will continue to think about autumn next week as we begin to learn autumn songs in our weekly music sessions and explore the change of seasons in class.
