The sun has got his hat on…

What a fab way to start the Summer term, with the sun shining! We had a lovely first week and had lots of fun outdoors – during playtime and at forest school. In art we enjoyed making King Charles coronation pictures in the style of Andy Warhol and later went on to create bright, colourful flower pictures which have been put on display by the front entrance to the school. Continuing the theme of flowers, the children were learning about the different parts of a flower and had fun investigating what flowers they could find in the school grounds. In English, we have been learning all about story mountains, which we use to help us plan a story. We have chosen fantasy stories and have been using picture prompts to help us come up with an imaginative and creative story. On the story map we have learned about the different stages of a story, the opening, build up, dilemma, resolution and the ending. We are really excited to write our own story next week and planning it on a story mountain. As a starter to our lessons we have been practising our sentence structure, using sentence openers for support.
