U11 Cricket vs Witham

Copthill U11C displayed great skill at the wicket and wonderful teamwork in the field, when they played against a talented Witham Hall side.
Put into bat first Copthill defended their wicket admirably, and as confidence increased whilst at the crease, plenty of quick singles were ran to accumulate a very respectable score for our team innings. Our bowling was equally dependable in the main, but it gradually became clear that a few of the Witham Hall batters had worked us out, and the boundaries started to come. Copthill stuck to their task in the field, narrowly missing some catches but picking up two quick run outs. In the end it was Witham Hall, with quicker footwork at the crease, which allowed them to take the opportunities to hit boundaries, that ultimately gave them the win, but great credit to the Copthill girls for an excellent performance both with bat and ball, and plenty of team spirit evident! Well done Girls! Mr Teesdale

It was lovely to see the improvement in the bowling accuracy of the U11D girls today, with some good fielding to add into the mix. Our batting was positive; we now need to focus on remembering to move towards the ball in order to make the most of the opportunity to score runs. Mrs Underwood.

U11B girls had a cracking close game with Witham. There were only 3 runs in it! Some strong bowling from Liv and Lottie coupled with some excellent batting from Izzie and Emma made for a great game of cricket. I was really proud of how the girls played and the focus they kept throughout the match . Quick reactions from a number of girls making some great catches meant that we were able to claim the win!
