We are loving angles instead!

In maths this week we had a complete turn around of units and decided to meet up with the angles family! We loved learning about all the different angles; acute, right, obese, straightline and reflex. After making an angle finder, the keen trigonometrists went on a hunt to locate some in our cloakroom and out in the playground – there were so many! Afterwards, armed with our protractors they identified and measured different angles to the nearest degree!

It was a real turn around in Mrs Teesdale’s maths group as they were busy learning to tell the time to the nearest quarter and finding properties of 2D shapes. Using an online geoboard program, they made and named different shapes.

We have been looking at story settings during English this week. In small groups, they came up with the best descriptions for each of our senses. Examples of onomatopeia, expanded noun phrases and aliteration were a plenty! It has to be said that they were pretty impressive!

In our Outdoor Learning session this week, Year 3 learnt about the natural methods of seed dispersal through wind and water. They had great fun assisting with the process!

Before half term to finish off our Out and About topic, Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful trip around our local area and visited Stamford to identify all the human and physical features. We then headed to Burghley House to enjoy our packed lunches and explore the gardens – especially the new play area. It was fabulous! The following day we then created our own maps of the town using the photographs that we took of the key features and locations.
