We ARRRRRGGHHHH pirates!

We have come to the end of our first topic of pirates and what a quick half term it was! We managed to fill it with so much pirate fun – as you have seen in our previous blogs, we have covered pirates in forest school, English, art and music. To celebrate we had a Pirate Day filled with pirate shenanigans, in the morning there was a carousel of activities such as pirate arts and crafts. pirate playground games and even a pirate initiation where the children had to solve clues to become part of a pirate crew – there was a Scallywags crew, a Swashbuckler crew and a Motley crew – and each child worked out their own pirate name. After a hearty pirate brunch for lunch, we went down to the river with Mr Teesdale aka ‘Master Hookhand’ and Mr Campbell aka ‘Patches Blackheart’ took the children down the river on mini pirate boats down to Dead Man’s Island where we found treasure and enjoyed a couple of rums! And to finish the day, a run back from the farm in Mr Teesdale landy was a highlight for many! A great day was had by all.
