Year 5 had a fantastic day being ‘mini-medics’ and learning important life-saving skills alongside basic first aid. They learnt key terminology and how to check for a casualty’s responsiveness, breathing and injuries as well as how to deliver CPR, put someone into the recovery position and use a defibrillator. They also learnt how to deal with choking, recognise and treat symptoms of shock and administer appropriate bandages for wounds and breaks. We are very proud of our responsible citizens and though we hope they will never have to use them, feel very confident in their new First Aid skills.
